Mediumship usually costs more than a general psychic reading, for a reason that is fair: fewer people do it, and the ones who do it well are in demand.
A private session with an independent medium, in person or by video, commonly runs $75 to $300 for 30 to 60 minutes. Well-known mediums, the ones with books and television appearances, charge far more than that and book out months ahead, and many of their readings happen in group settings where you may or may not be read at all. Online, on sites that bill by the minute, mediums tend to sit at the higher end of the range, several dollars a minute and up, so a 30 minute session commonly lands well above $100 with no fixed total until you hang up.
Very cheap medium readings deserve care. Connecting with someone who has passed is the reading where people are most vulnerable, and it is often used as the opening for the "there is something attached to you, pay me to clear it" scam. A low price is not proof of anything, but it is a reason to ask who chose this medium and how.
What you are paying for
A medium reading is longer and slower than a general reading, because the medium is working to establish who has come through and what they are trying to say before anything useful can be passed to you. A ten minute medium reading is rarely enough. Most mediums, and most people who have had a reading that mattered to them, will tell you that 30 minutes is where it starts to be worth doing.
You are also paying for honesty about limits. A good medium will tell you when nothing is coming through, and will not fill the silence with guesses. Readings are for entertainment purposes, and no advisor in the world is right all the time. What you should expect is a reading that engages the person you are asking about, not a script that could apply to anyone who has lost someone.
