What a medium does
A psychic reads the living. A medium reaches for someone who has died. That is the whole difference, and it changes what you should expect from the sitting.
A medium's job is to bring through enough of a person that you recognize them. Not a vague warm presence, but them: the way they said your name, the joke they always made, the thing they were stubborn about, the room they died in or the illness that took them. When a sitting works, it feels like recognition. You know who it is before the medium has finished the sentence.
What a medium can tell you
Who is there. A medium will usually describe who has come forward before you say anything: a mother, a grandfather, a friend who went too young. Sometimes it is the person you came for. Sometimes it is someone else who wanted to be first, and the person you came for arrives later.
Evidence. Good mediums lead with details you can check. A name or an initial, a cause of passing, a piece of jewelry, a nickname, a habit, an unfinished argument. This is the part that separates a real sitting from comfortable guesses, and you should expect it.
What they want you to know. After the recognition comes the message, and it is almost always simpler than people expect. That they are all right. That they saw the funeral. That you should stop blaming yourself. That the thing you never said, they knew. It is rarely dramatic, and it is usually what you needed.
How they see your life now. Many sittings end with the person commenting on what you are doing today: the move, the new relationship, the grandchild. It is a strange and steadying thing to hear.
What a medium cannot promise
That a specific person will come through. Mediums do not summon anyone. The person you want most may not come forward on that day, and an honest medium will tell you so rather than invent them. Someone else often does.
That every detail will land. Even in a strong sitting, some of what comes through will not make sense to you. Some of it makes sense a week later. Some of it never does. A sitting is judged by what lands, not by a perfect score.
