Why are some psychics so cheap?

Short answer

A very cheap psychic reading is usually a way to get you talking, not a measure of the advisor. The low number is often an opening offer on a running clock, a brand-new advisor building reviews, or a scripted reading that costs the site almost nothing. Cheap is not always bad. But the price you see at the top is rarely the price you finish with.

The longer answer

The low number is usually a door

Most very cheap psychic readings are priced to get you talking. Once you are talking, the price changes, or the reading turns out to be less than you thought you were buying. There are four common reasons a reading looks cheap, and only one of them is a bargain.

An opening offer on a running clock. The first few minutes are cheap or free, and then the standard by-the-minute price takes over. The advisor is often just getting to your question as the offer ends. The cheap part was never meant to be the reading.

A new advisor building reviews. On the big sites, anyone can sign up, and new advisors price low to collect reviews. Some of them are gifted and this is a real bargain. Some are reading from a script. You cannot tell which from the price.

Volume. Some advisors keep a low price and take many short calls a day. The reading you get is quick and general, because it has to be. It is not a scam. It is a different product.

A bot or a template. Some of the cheapest readings online are not made by a person at all. If the reply arrives instantly and could apply to anyone, that is what you paid for.

What price does and does not tell you

Price tells you how the site is run more than how good the advisor is. A high price does not guarantee a gifted reader, and a low one does not rule one out. What separates a good reading from a poor one is whether the advisor engaged your actual question, and no number tells you that in advance.

What price does tell you is where the pressure sits. When a reading is cheap because the clock is running, the pressure is on you to hurry and on the advisor to keep you on the line. When a reading is a flat price you chose, the pressure is off both of you.

How it works here

There are no cheap opening offers. Our shortest reading, The Question, is 5 to 10 minutes for $39, flat, shown before you pay. It is not the cheapest reading online and it is not meant to be. Every advisor auditioned with live readings before joining, and most applicants never make it, which is a large part of why the price is what it is. If you would rather spend less, text and taped video readings start at $29, made personally for you by the same advisors.

Every reading is covered by the CWP Guarantee: insight and clarity, or you don't pay. A cheap reading that misses still cost you the money. A fair one that misses here comes back to your card. For the full range of what readings cost and why, see what is a fair price for a psychic reading.
